Adding a Domain With Namecheap

Namecheap Settings

  1. Add your domain to Namecheap.
  2. Make sure Nameservers settings point at Namecheap BasicDNS.

  1. If your Nameservers point at Namecheap BasicDNS, click Advanced DNS.
    Advanced DNS section displays the complete list of existing DNS records for your domain.

To add a new record for domain press Add new record button.

For instance, you want to add a custom tracking domain www.yourdomain.com.

  • In Type section select CNAME from drop-down list
  • In Host introduce www
  • In Value insert BeMob default domain
  • Shorten the TTL for DNS settings to propagate faster.

BeMob default domain can be found in Settings on the panel of tracker.

For tracking domain use ххххх.bemobtrk.com
For cloaking domain xxxxx.bemobpath.com

The record settings should look the following way:

  1. Click green checkmark sign to save the settings. After this CNAME record is available for further setup.

Note

Namecheap doesn't allow to enter duplicate CNAME records with the same host names.

If you have set more than one CNAME record with www host name, it is required to delete any of these records that are not pointing to BeMob domain.

Below you can see an example of two conflicting CNAME records with the same host name www.
The second record should be deleted, because it doesn't point at BeMob domain.
To delete a record press trash sign.

www is not an obligatory host name, it can be any name, e.g. track, go etc, which will give you domains track.yourdomain.com or go.yourdomain.com.

BeMob settings

Before adding a domain record in BeMob, make sure that your custom domain is set correctly as described above.

  1. Log in to your BeMob account
  2. Press Settings tab, then move on to Domains section
  3. Press Add custom domain button

  1. Select Namecheap from the drop-down list. Click Next button.

  1. Introduce your custom domain.

  1. Press Check DNS. If BeMob accepts your domain after testing, it means that the domain record is set correctly.

  2. Click Add domain.

Adding a custom domain without www.

If your custom domain is used for tracking purposes only, it is possible to set up a domain without host name, another words, yourdomain.com with no www, track or go.

For instance, CNAME record with www host name in tracking link will be:

http://www.yourdomain.com/

However, if you delete a host name and use http://yourdomain.com/ , this domain will not work. In this case it is required to set a custom domain without host name.

To set the CNAME for a domain without host name it is required to add @ in Host section instead of www.

  • In Type section select CNAME from drop-down list
  • In Host introduce @
  • In Value insert BeMob default domain
  • Shorten the TTL for DNS settings to propagate faster.

After you performed all these actions above, you can add a domain without host name to BeMob as specified above.
